The Sigma 18-200 mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS lens is a compact lens that offers a large 11x zoom range combined with Sigma's optical stabilizer.
Like the DC 18-50 mm lens, this one features aspherical elements and low dispersion elements, as well as a multi-layer coating to reduce reflections and ghosting. On the other hand, it is relatively slow (F6.3) at the telephoto end (you can't have it all at this price ;-).
On a digital SLR APC with a 1.5x FOV, this lens provides an equivalent focal length of 27-300mm compared to a 35 mm camera.

The 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM is prima facie an ideal travel lens that does it all. The 11x zoom range, image stabilization, and useful close focusing distance combine to offer great functional versatility. Sigma's designers have chosen a set of compromises somewhat different from those made in competitive lenses, giving the 18-200mm its own character and features.
Most interestingly, this is a lens that seems to focus on minimizing distortion and chromatic aberration rather than maximizing sharpness.
