Cup with coat of arms: tabletop decorative, souvenir from London. Miniature metal cup with the emblem of London (City of London). The emblem is based on the flag of England (not the United Kingdom, which is more widely known), which in turn is based on the Cross of St. George (red cross on a white background), the patron saint of England. The upright red sword in the upper left quadrant refers to the beheading of St. Paul, the patron saint of the City of London. The cup bears the phrase "DOMINE DIRIGE NOS" (Lord, guide us), the Latin phrase that is the motto of London, as well as the name of the city (LONDON).
Purchased on a trip to London around 1962-1965 and belongs to the old good generation of travel souvenirs.
Dimensions (approximately): 4.5 (diameter)x6 (height) cm.
